Tune-Up

Clean the Computer
CCleaner

1) First run the CCleaner,
2) then clean the registry, (always allow it to save a backup, just in case)
3) afterwards its good to use the tools > uninstall to remove unwanted programs,
4) and last, the tools > startup to remove any unused startup commands. I would keep adobe flash and java updaters, but remove Google, apple, and any other unwanted updater

Defraggler
Then its good to defrag, i prefer Defraggler because it sorts the most often used information at the beginning of the disk, allowing your PC to startup and run faster.

1) Enable > Settings > Boot Time Defrag > Run once
2) Click the Defrag button on the home screen
3) enjoy

Also make sure your anti-virus is running and up to date

1) use ccleaner > tools > uninstall to make sure you have no other anti-virus running
2) If you do have anti-virus, open it and make sure its running and updated
3) If you do not have any other anti-virus, or are unhappy with the one you have, or are sick of spending $$$ on a subscription, uninstall it.
4) download Microsoft Security Essentials for free.
5) install it, update it, and run it.

Microsoft Security Essentials does a good job, but like most anti-viruses, it will not catch some malware.

1) get Malwarebytes
2) install
3) scan
4) after 14 days it will pester you to update to PRO. it is not required, but will alow real-time scanning, which is useful. I typically do not upgrade, and just run the scan quarterly to ensure my PC is clean

Tune Up Tools

Here is a list of tools I use to increase performance in most PC's

CCleaner
Defraggler
